OpenStreetMap and Wikipedia
The free WikiMap OpenStreetMap is added as a background information in this example.
With click on the Wikipedia-Icon in the toolbar a request on Wikipedia Geocoding Webservice (GeoNames) is sent and visualized as icons on the map. When you click on an icon in the map (with the identify tool), more details are offered in the identify window.
The numbers of the result is kept down to 30 rows (but can be changed), so you "still can see the map".
Bei diesem Beispiel wurde als Hintergrundinformation die freie Wiki-Weltkarte OpenStreetMap hinzugefügt.
Bei Klick auf das Wikipedia-Icon wird der von GeoNames bereitgestellte "Wikipedia Geocoding Webservice" abgerufen und in der Karte visualisiert. Bei Klick auf ein Icon (mit dem Identify-Tool), öffnen sich ein Fenster mit weiteren Detailinformationen zu dem betreffenden Eintrag.
Die Anzahl der Einträge wurde auf maximal 30 reduziert (kann jedoch geändert werden), so dass nicht die Gefahr besteht die ganze Karte zu überdecken.
